Andreas Jakl (Software) and Stephan Selinger (Hardware) has launched a ShakerRacer project, which enable a hacked RC Car to be controlled by the Nokia N95 using the sensor.

When you’re playing a racing game or using an RC car, you will very often move your whole body when driving through tight turns or accelerate with full speed — but the control itself is very often still done through abstract buttons on a game controller or keyboard.

The car that we used is based on a standard €90 RC car bought from a toy shop. We modded it to accept Bluetooth instead of the proprietary wireless module that it was shipped with. A small microcontroller and a Bluetooth module replace the original wireless components. On the side of the mobile phone, a Python script translates the input of the acceleration sensor to commands that the microcontroller can understand in order to manage the steering servo as well as the main motor.’

ShakerRacer does not need this additional layer and allows you to control an RC car directly through your movements – by using the acceleration sensor of your mobile phone. It works in a very intuitive way: just tilt your phone in the direction you want to drive.

Check the video below to see exactly how it works.

Promoters of BocaEnBoca observed a great interest from cell mobile phones users, for messaging, photos and videos between the nearest friends, in a easily and free way.

They offer a software for bluetooth cell mobile phones, for messaging, photos and videos between the nearest friends, in a easily and free way.

Certainly, thus that has been demonstrated with phenomena like bluehacking make rage in the United Kingdom, consisting on sending messages, photos and videos through bluetooth with cell mobile phones.

Juan Anacabe, person in charge of BocaEnBoca, said:

It is to be thankful that Bluetooth was created in order to users to wireless connect electronic devices with each other as cell mobile phones, PDAs, computers, MP3 players, hands-free, video games consoles, offering therefore a great comfort for the users.

There is a field in which users demand more from connection facilities offered by Bluetooth, as it is communication with other users, sharing messages, photos and videos whereever, widely spreading them between the nearest friends, in order to participate in their opinions, proposals, recommendations, and interests.

Known as bluehaking, there is a simple way for messaging, with bluetooth cell mobile phones, consisting in creating a new address contact, writing down the message in contact fields & then sending the address contact to other bluetooth cell mobile phones through bluetooth.

This technic is populary used by teens, in order to pick up mates in busy places as underground, but last on offering private messaging, group messaging and simply should be easier as contact address have not been thougth for that solution.

As well, user allways can send their photos and videos through bluetooth, if they are not private ones, one by one, that could benefit from group sharing.

Asked about the features that must prioritize in a service that allows for messaging, photos and videos with cell mobile phones through bluetooth.

He responds that it must be extremely easy for users to present his interests between all his friends, which supposes that should be possible to free send at once to his groups of friends, who he desire, the messages, photos and videos.

In addition, the privacy is due to preserve at all costs, what implies, that these private messages, photos and videos cannot be intercepted by other users, and that these cannot exposed to third users, example of this last one would be, that a photo which you have sent to friends in particular cannot end up resend itself to who you do not wish that sees it.

BocaEnBoca has made specific all it in a software for bluetooth cell mobile phones, that allows users to assign messages, photos and videos that it has in his mobile phone, to its groups of friends, and black lists of blocked users, so that they are sent in chain through bluetooth between friends easily, free and privately.

Anacabe affirms that there are currently millions of users, sending messages, photos and videos between its friends through bluetooth using thier cell mobile phones, being software BocaEnBoca the only proposal that takes care of their specific needs and wishes.

The software, at the present moment, it does not have a cost defined for the moment of its commercial launching, around the 14.50 euro in a unique payment, no mensuals fees, although it is intention of the promoters to posibly be free, offering itself with sponsors endorsement.

Well, I’m not a Mac user or Sprint PCS customer but after surfing for couple hours I found this interesting blog where shows how to make a mobile wifi hotspot using a Bluetooth-enabled Sprint PCS phone and a Mac. With very detailed step-by-step, the instructions assume you are using Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), and a Samsung A920. But it should apply to any Sprint phone with Bluetooth that is capable of being a data modem and/or using their Power Vision service.

Avanquest Software announced the launch of BVRP Mobile Phone Suite, giving owners of new Intel(R) Centrino(R) Duo mobile technology-based laptops effortless Internet access almost anytime and anywhere without the need of a PCMCIA card or having to search for WiFi hot spots.

Avanquest’s Mobile Phone Suite allows Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology-based laptop owners to use their Bluetooth equipped 2.5 and 3G enabled handsets as modems. An installed base of some 400 million Bluetooth enabled 2.5 and 3G handsets forecast for this year means a critical mass of mobile subscribers can now enjoy high-speed Internet access in more locations at more times than ever before – in a taxi, on a train, at a sporting event or while out of doors.

Designed for seamless integration with the newest generation of Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology-based laptops, Mobile Phone Suite’s Bluetooth capability automatically establishes the PC connection to hundreds of handheld devices from major manufacturers, including popular handsets available from leading cellular service providers. Configured to provide WWAN connection over all leading cellular networks, the program creates greater opportunities for cellular operators to drive data revenues in today’s mobile marketplace.

The first WWAN connectivity application optimized for the new Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology-based laptops, Mobile Phone Suite removes technical hurdles to connectivity faced by users while letting them synchronize their mobile phone or handheld with their PC contacts, calendar, and more without hassle. At the same time, it gives users the power to send compelling Multimedia Messages from their mobile phones after composing them on their laptop.

“The installed base of Bluetooth enabled 2.5G and 3G handsets has reached a critical mass, making high-speed data connectivity from almost anywhere no longer just a dream,” said David Wright, president, Avanquest Software OEM Division. “The new Intel Centrino Duo platform is designed to exploit this new reality by expanding the range of connectivity options available to users. We’re pleased that Intel has worked with Avanquest in enabling us to provide a critical component in making WWAN access as simple and convenient for users as WiFi access has already become.”

“Mobile Phone Suite provides Intel Centrino Duo-based laptop users with greater access to a broader range of connectivity options through their handheld devices with easy to use software,” said Keith Kressin, director of marketing, Intel’s Mobile Platforms Group. “Consumers and business users want to stay connected to information, colleagues, friends and family wherever they are to be able to collaborate, have fun and succeed.”

Mobile Phone Suite builds on Avanquest’s 20 years of experience in PC communications software development under its BVRP brand and worldwide leadership in applications that support PC-cellular convergence. The product will be promoted with a product landing page on the intel.com site and joint Intel and Avanquest educational outreach to manufacturers of laptops and handhelds and mobile network operators.

The review includes screen shots from HTC Universal powered by some new version of Windows Mobile 5.0 that already includes stereo audio for Bluetooth (i.e. A2DP profile support)!

Never mind push e-mail, never mind new powerful core OS (Windows CE 5.x), never mind new fantastic APIs (including location API for GPS, camera API, notification, etc), never mind new improved Office Mobile (including PowerPoint viewer and native editing of other Office formats like Word and Excel) and never mind new flashy Windows Mobile 5.0 GUI! All that will be considered as secondary once A2DP Bluetooth profile will be added to the next update of Windows Mobile 5.0 early next year! Read on!

What means A2DP for you? Basically it provides you Bluetooth stereo support for headsets which means you can listen your favorite music without any disturbing wires.

[...]

It really looks like Microsoft did everything right, at least as far as I can comment it after testing and playing with it for 30 minutes. Pairing is as easy as you can expect it and since it is completely integrated into the standard Bluetooth wizard, it works flawless. Also the devices recognize if the headset is switched of as well as it is switched on again.

Well done! Can hardly await the full roll-out for all Windows Mobile 5.0 devices early next year and please listen ODMs and carriers: please don’t make the mistake to remove it even if you can remove AKU features. We, the customers and users want it, seriously!

Bluepulse is an application for mobile phones which allows a person to access information based on their surroundings. For example, in a shopping centre, it will help users find a particular shop or an ATM or toilet with step-by-step directions automatically appearing. You can then check to see outside which shop a friend or relative is located, view available shop specials in the centre from any location, check the movie times, look at movie trailers and even have your shopping list appear from your home computer.

The company says the software is faster and easier than WAP, including caching, using the phone’s UI to speed rendering, and allowing the users to install new bluepulse apps from desktop browser as well as from the phone.

The bluepulse client applications has been updated to support cellular networks such as GPRS and UMTS, in addition to Bluetooth.

Content publishers and application developers can deploy an application to more than 250 types of phone. The client application is a free download available to any user, while some services may have a cost.

The client comes with default applications that let users send instant messages and read RSS feeds right from the phone.

The applications use the phone’s own menu interface so they look and work in a way already known by the user. Consumers can personalise bluepulse applications where it’s most convenient, from the desktop computer or directly on the phone.

The company is currently driving an effort to have more developers creating applications for the platform, by supplying a free SDK and support through billing and ticket systems.
