A Korean venture start-up has developed an advanced MP3 player, which enables people on the move to place phone calls or receive short messages.
Altgen has unveiled the high-end model, PAN-300VT, which provides a flurry of convenient services combined with a Bluetooth cell phone.
“We plan to market this versatile gizmo in the local market later this month, with an affordable price tag of between $150 and $200, before breaking into the global arena next year,” Altgen president Song Jung-hyun said.
At a first glance, it appears that PAN-300VT is no more than a normal MP3 players. However, a closer look reveals that the secret lies in a Bluetooth phone, the up-to-date handset that allows people to make or receive mobile phone calls with wireless hands-free devices. After a Bluetooth phone receives cell phone signals, it relays them to PAN-300VT and users can talk via the MP3 player’s speaker and a headset connected to it.
It is also possible to make calls on PAN-300VT, which shows lists of received calls and unanswered calls on its organic light emitting display monitor.
“We already sent PAN-300VT samples to several U.S. distributors who are checking its commercial viability. I expect the items will hit the U.S. shelves early next year,” Song added.
So we can expect these products will show up in the U.S. market very soon.
