Avanquest BVRP Mobile Phone Suite

Avanquest Software announced the launch of BVRP Mobile Phone Suite, giving owners of new Intel(R) Centrino(R) Duo mobile technology-based laptops effortless Internet access almost anytime and anywhere without the need of a PCMCIA card or having to search for WiFi hot spots.

Avanquest’s Mobile Phone Suite allows Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology-based laptop owners to use their Bluetooth equipped 2.5 and 3G enabled handsets as modems. An installed base of some 400 million Bluetooth enabled 2.5 and 3G handsets forecast for this year means a critical mass of mobile subscribers can now enjoy high-speed Internet access in more locations at more times than ever before – in a taxi, on a train, at a sporting event or while out of doors.

Designed for seamless integration with the newest generation of Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology-based laptops, Mobile Phone Suite’s Bluetooth capability automatically establishes the PC connection to hundreds of handheld devices from major manufacturers, including popular handsets available from leading cellular service providers. Configured to provide WWAN connection over all leading cellular networks, the program creates greater opportunities for cellular operators to drive data revenues in today’s mobile marketplace.

Bluetooth Watch by Seiko

Seiko Bluetooth Watch

This is going to be great when it comes out, a watch that has bluetooth and by connecting to your cellphone it displays information about it. What kind of information? Here’s a small list:

* Battery condition
* Network signal strength

Now it’s the time you ask: that’s all it does? Not really, if you install some software into the cellphone you’ll be able to see the received SMS’s subject and sender. The watch will also vibrate or play a ring tone whenever you get SMS or a call.

The prototype was showed recently by Seiko, and is suppose to come out in 2007.

One situation where this gadget will be useful, is in countries where it’s illegal to drive and use the cellphone at the same time, like the one where I live. Now if only they could implement a microphone in the watch so you could speak from there…

Review of Brando’s Bluetooth Smart Keyboard

Brando's Bluetooth Smart Keyboard

I recently had the opportunity to try out Brando’s Bluetooth Smart Keyboard. Thanks so much Brando for allowing me to review one of your many fabulous, quality products!!!!!

I’ve been wanting to try out the Bluetooth function on my LifeDrive but haven’t done much at all with it since I got the device months ago. Previously, I had only sent a couple of photos via Bluetooth and I played some fun games of Sea War against another PDA player via Bluetooth. I thought that using a Bluetooth keyboard would be the perfect way to utilize my LifeDrive’s Bluetooth function.

Enter the Brando Bluetooth Smart Keyboard! This keyboard is very compact and so easy to carry anywhere! It conveniently fits into my gadget bag along with my PDA and other gadget accessories!
The Bluetooth Smart Keyboard can be used with the Palm OS, Pocket PC, and Smart Phones. There are many different devices that this keyboard is compatible with! Among the Palm devices are the Zire 72, Tungsten T / T2 / T3 / T5 /, E2, Treo 650, and of course the one I’m using; the LifeDrive.

Slick stereo Bluetooth headset from Sony Ericsson comes with remote

Via Mobilemag.com

Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 Stereo Bluetoth Headset

I’m loving these combo devices that allow you to jam away to your favourite tunes in full stereo, but seamlessly switch over to a phone call when you need to. The HBH-DS970 Stereo Bluetooth 2.0 headset from Sony Ericsson does just that, and it even comes with a remote with a display! Skip tracks, up the volume, and check out the caller ID all from the handy little thing that’ll be dangling from your neck.

Unlike most Bluetooth headsets that scream I’m talking on Bluetooth!, this set just looks like any other flash-based MP3 player. Battery life isn’t exactly enough to last you the whole day, unfortunately, and is rated at a max life around 6 hours. That’s probably the only thing hurting the HBH-DS970.

It seems this slick 27 gram headset can work with all AVRCP-compatible devices, and not just products coming out of Sony Ericsson. No word on pricing just yet, but look for this to drop sometime in the second quarter of this year.

Nokia’s boxy Bluetooth headset coming soon

Via Mobilemag.com

Nokia BH-800 Bluetooth Headset

Tired of sporting a generic made in China headset? Well, if you have yourself a Bluetooth-capable Nokia, you will soon be able to get the company’s square-form BH-800 as the FCC has officially approved the Bluetooth headset. You might not even notice this thing on your ear as it is feather light at a mere 9 grams.

Battery life is more than adequate with 6 hours of talk time and 160 hours of standby time, after you’ve charged it up for about 2 hours. It’ll run on just about any Nokia mobile as it supports Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, Handsfree 1.5, and Headset 1.1 standards. Other features include volume control, an optional ear loop, and the ability to pair up with up to 8 devices (one at a time, of course).

As with any officially branded products, the Nokia BH-800 Bluetooth headset will cost you more than the generic brands out there. Expect to pay in the neighbourhood of $140 for one of these puppies, available in either coffee black or silver white.
